Show Support to Project Safe Childhood –
Show support to the United States Department of Justice for its efforts to better protect children. We feel it is important for you to learn more about what the United States Department of Justice is accomplishing for the benefit of children. Project Safe Childhood is a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat the proliferation of technology-facilitated crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children.
Project Safe Childhood
Project Safe Childhood is a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. See the direct Web site https://www.justice.gov/psc to learn more about Project Safe Childhood and to read Press Releases concerning prosecution outcomes of criminal cases in where children were victimized. Some of the recent cases cases are mentioned after this next paragraph, see Justice News. The threat of sexual predators soliciting children for physical sexual contact is well-known and serious, and the danger of perpetrators who produce, distribute, and possess child pornography is equally, if not more, dramatic and disturbing. There is often an international dimension to these crimes such as when offenders travel to victimize children outside of the United States or view live video streams (in addition to recorded still and video images) of children being abused in foreign countries.
